Overview

Daredevil (2003) Storyline

Daredevil follows blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who uses his heightened senses and martial skills to fight crime by night as the masked vigilante Daredevil. When crime lord Kingpin tightens his grip on Hell’s Kitchen and assassin Bullseye enters the picture, Matt’s world becomes dangerously personal. Based on the Marvel Comics hero, the film brought one of Marvel’s darkest street-level characters to cinema. Behind the camera, Mark Steven Johnson gives the adaptation its shape, helping define whether it leans more into spectacle, character drama, genre thrills or straight-up comic-book chaos. We have rated this 7 out of 10, which makes it a worthwhile entry to revisit when comparing how well comic properties translate across different studios, eras and audience expectations. For SEO and fan discovery, it belongs here because it adds context to the bigger comic movie timeline: not every adaptation has to be perfect, but each one says something about the genre, the audience it was chasing and the kind of stories studios believed could work on screen.

Daredevil (2003) Review 7/10

We have rated this 7 out of 10. Daredevil arrived before superhero films really figured out tone, and you can feel it balancing between noir tragedy and early-2000s rock-video energy. Ben Affleck gets more criticism than he deserves, while Colin Farrell clearly decided subtlety was optional as Bullseye. The Director’s Cut is genuinely much stronger and shows the film’s better version hiding underneath. Imperfect, but far more interesting than its reputation suggests.
