Great news for Wednesday fans, Season 3 has officially finished filming.
Production wrapped on September 30, 2026, which means the next chapter for Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams is another big step closer to arriving on Netflix.
I’m extremely happy Netflix has continued with a third season. Season 2 had a lot to live up to after just how dominant that first season was, but for me it delivered. There is still plenty left to explore at Nevermore and with Wednesday’s friends, family and the wider supernatural world they’ve built around her.
Obviously wrapping filming doesn’t mean we’re getting the new season anytime soon. There’s still editing, visual effects, sound, music and everything else that comes with post-production, especially on a series like Wednesday. But the cameras have stopped rolling and that’s a pretty big milestone.
How Long Can Wednesday Keep Going?
There is one thing I’ve been thinking about though, and it’s something that happens with almost every successful franchise eventually: how long will Jenna Ortega want to continue being Wednesday?
She’s made the character her own and it’s difficult to imagine anyone else playing this version now, but actors don’t always want to be known for one character for the rest of their career. Jenna is already taking on very different roles outside Wednesday and I’m sure she’ll want to continue showing that versatility.
Then there’s simply the passing of time. Wednesday is still a young character and although Jenna does look younger than her age, you can only stretch these things so far.
I’ve been saying the same thing about the Avengers for years. Actors get older, characters change and eventually you reach a point where a franchise has to move forward. Personally, I don’t want to see studios relying on CGI just to make actors look younger so they can keep a particular version of a character around forever.
We’re nowhere near that problem with Wednesday yet, but if the show continues to be as successful as it has been, it’s an interesting question for Netflix further down the road.
What I Want From Season 3
For now, I’m just excited to see where the story goes next.
Wednesday has grown beyond the original idea of her simply being sent to Nevermore Academy. We’ve got her friendships, the Addams family, her abilities and a much bigger supernatural world to play with now. There are loads of directions they can take it.
I also want more of Wednesday and her friends actually getting out there, finding themselves in ridiculous situations, causing havoc and somehow solving whatever mystery they’ve stumbled into, all while Wednesday keeps that completely stone-faced expression as everyone around her loses their minds.
That’s part of what makes the show work for me. It doesn’t have to be completely serious and it doesn’t need to become a massive world-ending story every season. Give us a good mystery, some strange characters, a bit of horror and let Wednesday be Wednesday.
When Will Wednesday Season 3 Be Released?
Netflix hasn’t announced an official release date yet, so anything more specific at the moment would just be guessing.
With filming now complete, though, we should hopefully start seeing more from Season 3 as post-production moves along. First-look images, teasers and eventually that first proper trailer will give us a much better idea of what they’re planning for our return to Nevermore.
We’ll be following Wednesday Season 3 as more is announced, so stay tuned to Comic Movie DB and our socials for updates.
And if you’ve got a Wednesday, Addams Family or Nevermore cosplay, come and join the Comic Movie DB fandom and upload it for everyone to see. We’d love to see what you’ve created.
