Overview

Tank Girl Storyline

Tank Girl is set in a post-apocalyptic future where water is the most valuable resource on Earth and controlled by the ruthless Water & Power corporation. After her home is destroyed, rebellious anti-hero Rebecca becomes Tank Girl and fights back with chaos, attitude and a literal tank. Based on the British comic series by Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett, it became a cult icon of punk comic-book cinema. Behind the camera, Rachel Talalay gives the adaptation its shape, helping define whether it leans more into spectacle, character drama, genre thrills or straight-up comic-book chaos. We have rated this 5 out of 10, which makes it a worthwhile entry to revisit when comparing how well comic properties translate across different studios, eras and audience expectations. For SEO and fan discovery, it belongs here because it adds context to the bigger comic movie timeline: not every adaptation has to be perfect, but each one says something about the genre, the audience it was chasing and the kind of stories studios believed could work on screen.

Tank Girl Review 5/10

We have rated this 5 out of 10. Tank Girl feels like a comic book, a punk concert and a fever dream all crashing into each other at once. Lori Petty is perfect casting, bringing total chaos and fearless energy to the role. The film is messy, loud and not remotely interested in being polished, which is honestly why people still love it. It bombed on release but became a cult favourite because it is unapologetically weird. Not tidy, but unforgettable.
