Manchester Comic Con & MegaCon Prove Manchester’s Geek Scene Is Thriving for 2026
The last two weekends have been an absolute dream for anyone who loves comics, movies, anime, gaming and cosplay.
First up was Monopoly’s Comic Con at Trafford Park, followed by MegaCon Manchester at the Manchester Central Convention Complex. Two very different venues, but both packed with everything that makes comic conventions such a brilliant day out.
If you’ve never been to a comic convention before, honestly, what are you waiting for?
Manchester Comic Con Is About More Than Celebrity Guests
Of course, meeting your favourite actors is always exciting, but that’s only part of the experience.
What really stood out over both weekends was the atmosphere.
Everywhere you looked there were independent artists showcasing incredible artwork, traders selling everything from vintage comics and action figures to handmade lightsabers and 3D printed props, plus rows of custom creations you simply won’t find on the high street.
As collectors ourselves, it’s impossible to walk around without spotting something you suddenly “need” for the collection.
Funny how that always happens.
Cosplay Brings Every Fandom Together
One of the best parts of both events was seeing just how much effort people put into their cosplay.
Marvel heroes walked past Star Wars bounty hunters.
Batman posed for photos alongside Deadpool.
Anime characters filled the halls while Ghostbusters, Disney princesses and gaming icons happily shared the same space.
That’s the magic of comic conventions.
Nobody cares what fandom you’re from.
Everyone is there because they love the worlds these characters come from.
Whether you’re five years old meeting Spider-Man for the first time or fifty years old hunting for that comic you’ve been searching for since the ’90s, everyone is welcomed with a smile.
Family Fun From Start To Finish
Both Manchester Comic Con and MegaCon had a fantastic family atmosphere.
Parents were joining in with cosplay, kids were proudly showing off their homemade costumes and there was always something happening around every corner.
Watching children light up when they spotted their favourite character never gets old.
It reminds all of us why we fell in love with these characters in the first place.
Comic conventions aren’t just shopping trips.
They’re places where memories are made.
Launching The Mancdalorian
This weekend was even more special for us.
Comic Movie DB was invited along as press, giving us the chance to cover the event while also officially introducing The Mancdalorian
For those who haven’t met him yet, The Mancdalorian is our Manchester-inspired take on everyone’s favourite bounty hunter.
Every part of the suit was sourced, designed or made right here in Manchester, making him a true Manc from helmet to boots.
Seeing people’s reactions throughout the day was honestly one of the highlights of the weekend.
Kids wanted photos.
Adults wanted to know how the suit was built.
Cosplayers stopped us to chat about the armour, the 3D printing process and the little Manchester-inspired details hidden throughout the costume.
The reception couldn’t have been better.
This Is Just The Beginning
After two fantastic weekends celebrating geek culture, we’re already looking forward to the next convention.
Manchester continues to prove it has one of the friendliest and most passionate fan communities around, and we’re proud to be part of it.
The Mancdalorian’s first official outing couldn’t have gone any better, and this definitely won’t be his last mission.
We’ll be back on the convention floor very soon… and who knows what upgrades he’ll have by then.
