Overview

Lanterns Storyline

Lanterns is an upcoming DC Studios television series set within the new DC Universe. The show focuses on the legendary Green Lantern Corps and follows two of its most well-known members, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, as they investigate a mysterious case on Earth.

The series centres on veteran Lantern Hal Jordan mentoring a younger John Stewart as the two intergalactic peacekeepers become entangled in a dark conspiracy. As members of the Green Lantern Corps — an organisation of cosmic protectors who wield powerful rings capable of creating energy constructs — the pair must uncover the truth behind a murder investigation that could have far-reaching consequences for the universe.

Unlike previous adaptations that focused heavily on large-scale cosmic battles, Lanterns is expected to take a more grounded approach, blending superhero mythology with elements of a detective story. The show has been described as a mystery-driven narrative exploring both the power of the Green Lantern rings and the responsibilities that come with them.

As part of the new DC Universe spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran, Lanterns aims to expand the cosmic side of DC while introducing new audiences to one of the franchise’s most iconic hero teams.

Lanterns Review

Although Lanterns has yet to premiere, anticipation for the series is high among DC fans. The Green Lantern mythology is one of the richest corners of the DC Universe, featuring a massive intergalactic police force and a wide range of characters connected through the power of the Lantern rings.

What makes this project particularly exciting is its focus on the dynamic between Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Both characters have long histories in DC Comics, and pairing them together provides an opportunity to explore different perspectives within the Green Lantern Corps.

The series has also been described as having a tone similar to a grounded crime investigation, which could provide a refreshing take on the superhero genre. If executed well, Lanterns could become one of the most unique entries in the new DC Universe by combining cosmic storytelling with a detective-style narrative.

Fans are especially excited to see how the series expands the Green Lantern mythology and connects to the wider DCU.
