Overview
Doctor Strange: In the Incursions of Insanity Storyline
Doctor Strange: In the Incursions of Insanity is a rumoured Marvel Studios project that has been linked to a potential 2027 release, although Marvel has not officially announced the movie, its title, release date or cast.
The project is rumoured to continue the story of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, potentially picking up from the ending of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where Clea, played by Charlize Theron, warned Strange that he had caused an incursion and asked for his help fixing it.
Several familiar MCU names have been associated with speculation surrounding the project, including Benedict Wong, Charlize Theron, Elizabeth Olsen, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams and Xochitl Gomez. However, these appearances should currently be treated as rumours rather than confirmed casting.
If the movie does happen, incursions could make it an important chapter in Marvel’s ongoing Multiverse Saga and potentially connect Doctor Strange directly with the events surrounding Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
For now, this Comic Movie DB page will act as a living preview, tracking official Marvel announcements alongside casting rumours, potential story details and speculation about Doctor Strange’s next MCU adventure.

Doctor Strange: In the Incursions of Insanity Review
Doctor Strange: In the Incursions of Insanity is still one to watch, so this entry should be treated as a preview rather than a final review. The appeal is obvious: fans want to know how the finished project will handle the source material, how closely it will lean into its comic roots and whether it can stand out in a crowded franchise landscape. For now, the biggest talking points are casting, tone, design, continuity and whether the story can give audiences something fresh rather than simply recycling familiar blockbuster beats. Once the 2027 release is available to review properly, this page can be updated with a final verdict, rating and spoiler-safe breakdown.
Did You Know?
- Incursions were first mentioned in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by the Illuminati and Charlize Theron’s character, Clea. In the comics, they are central to Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars saga.
- Clea, Strange’s love interest and a powerful sorceress from the Dark Dimension, may play a larger role in this film after her debut in the Multiverse of Madness post-credits scene.
- Doctor Strange has battled insanity and darker versions of himself in multiple comic arcs — a likely inspiration for this rumored sequel’s direction.
- If confirmed, this could be Benedict Cumberbatch’s sixth full appearance as Doctor Strange in the MCU.
- The title’s tone suggests influences from both Lovecraftian horror and Marvel’s Time Runs Out storyline.
