Howard the Duck (1986) Storyline

Howard the Duck follows Howard, a wisecracking duck from another planet who is accidentally pulled to Earth and crash-lands in Cleveland. Stranded in a world far stranger than his own, he teams up with aspiring rock singer Beverly and scientist Phil to stop an evil cosmic force from destroying the planet. Based on the Marvel comic character, it became one of the most infamous comic-book adaptations ever made.

Howard the Duck has spent decades being the punchline of comic-book movie history, and honestly… it kind of deserves it. It is bizarre, messy, tonally confused and looks like someone dared a studio executive to make it. That said, there is a strange charm to how unapologetically weird it is. Lea Thompson commits fully, Jeffrey Jones goes full chaos mode, and the practical effects are unforgettable for all the right and wrong reasons. A disaster? Yes. A fascinating one? Absolutely.
