X-Men (2000) Storyline

X-Men introduces a world where mutants are feared by humanity because of their extraordinary powers. When Wolverine and Rogue are drawn into the conflict between Professor Xavier’s X-Men and Magneto’s Brotherhood, they become part of a battle over the future of mutantkind. Based on Marvel’s iconic comic team, the film helped launch the modern superhero movie era. X-Men (2000) is a Marvel Comics screen adaptation from 2000, sitting in the wider Comic Movie DB archive as one of the movie entries that helps connect page-to-screen storytelling beyond the obvious cape-and-cowl crowd. The page is especially useful for readers tracking the people involved, with Anna Paquin, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romijn, Shawn Ashmore, Stan Lee, Tyler Mane among the main names connected to the project. Behind the camera, Bryan Singer gives the adaptation its shape, helping define whether it leans more into spectacle, character drama, genre thrills or straight-up comic-book chaos. We have rated this 9 out of 10, which makes it a worthwhile entry to revisit when comparing how well comic properties translate across different studios, eras and audience expectations. For SEO and fan discovery, it belongs here because it adds context to the bigger comic movie timeline: not every adaptation has to be perfect, but each one says something about the genre, the audience it was chasing and the kind of stories studios believed could work on screen.

X-Men (2000) Review - 9/10 Rating

We have rated this 9 out of 10. X-Men feels modest compared with modern superhero blockbusters, but its importance cannot be overstated. It proved that comic-book teams could work on screen and gave audiences a grounded entry point into mutant mythology. Hugh Jackman instantly became Wolverine, Patrick Stewart was perfect as Xavier and Ian McKellen gave Magneto real dignity and menace. It may look small now, but without this film the superhero boom would have looked very different.
