The Addams Family 2 is the 2021 animated sequel that sends the family on a strange cross-country road trip. Worried that Wednesday and Pugsley are growing up and drifting away, Gomez and Morticia decide the best solution is a family holiday in their wonderfully creepy camper. Naturally, the trip becomes a trail of chaos, weird landmarks and mysterious questions about Wednesday’s identity. The sequel keeps the lighter animated tone of the 2019 film while giving Wednesday a more central role and leaning into family bonds, oddball comedy and cartoon gothic energy. It keeps the newer animated continuity playful and accessible, using the family’s bizarre travel plans to explore how the Addamses stay close even when their children begin wanting independence.
We have rated The Addams Family 2 6 out of 10, because it is a breezy animated sequel with some fun moments, even if it does not feel as focused as the 2019 film. The road trip setup gives the characters plenty of new places to cause trouble, and Wednesday remains the strongest part of this animated version. The voice cast is still very good, especially Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron as Gomez and Morticia, but the story feels more like a collection of comic set pieces than a truly essential Addams chapter. Younger viewers will likely enjoy the pace and silliness, while long-time fans may prefer the sharper live-action versions. Still, it is harmless spooky family fun with enough weirdness to earn its place in the franchise.
