Overview
The Addams Family (1964) Storyline
The Addams Family is the 2019 animated film that reintroduced the creepy and kooky clan to modern family audiences. The movie follows Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley and the rest of the household as they move into a gloomy mansion near a suspiciously perfect planned community. When TV makeover host Margaux Needler decides the Addams mansion is ruining her neighbourhood vision, the family becomes the target of a campaign to force them into normality. The film uses animation to bring the character designs closer to Charles Addams’ original cartoon style, while delivering a bright, accessible version of the franchise for younger viewers.

The Addams Family (1964) Review 7/10
We have rated The Addams Family 2019 animated movie 7 out of 10, because it is a fun and visually appealing family-friendly take on the characters. It does not have the gothic bite of the 1990s films, but the voice cast is strong and the animation gives the family a distinctive look that nods back to the original cartoons. Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron are great choices for Gomez and Morticia, while Chloe Grace Moretz gives Wednesday the dry, unimpressed energy fans expect. The story is fairly simple, but the message about embracing weirdness fits the Addams Family perfectly. It is more gateway Addams than definitive Addams, but it does its job with charm.
