Comic Movie DB was invited by Sony Pictures UK to attend a screening of Masters of the Universe, and as lifelong He-Man fans, we had to bring a very special guest along for the journey: He-Man toy.
We Took Our He-Man Toy to Watch Masters of the Universe — And It Was Everything We Hoped For
Some cinema trips are exciting. Some are nostalgic. And then there are the ones that take you right back to being a kid again.
Last night, Comic Movie DB was invited by Sony Pictures UK to attend a screening of Masters of the Universe, and this one felt a little different from the usual trip to the cinema.
As someone who grew up loving He-Man, the cartoons, the toys and the original 1980s movie, this was never going to be just another screening. This was a return to Eternia.
He came on the train. He arrived at London Euston. He made it to the cinema. And after decades of waiting, he sat with us as the power of Grayskull returned to the big screen.
A Huge Thank You to Sony Pictures UK
First of all, a huge thank you to Sony Pictures UK for inviting Comic Movie DB down to the screening. For a site built by fans, for fans, moments like this genuinely mean a lot.
Getting the chance to watch a new Masters of the Universe movie before release was special enough, but being able to experience it as someone who has loved this franchise since childhood made it even better.
There is something brilliant about sitting in a cinema as an adult, holding a toy like you played with as a kid, and realising that these characters still have the power to make you feel excited all over again.
A Fan-First Return to Eternia
What really stood out about Masters of the Universe is that it understands what fans love about this world.
This is not a film that feels embarrassed by its source material. It embraces the fantasy, the colour, the humour, the emotion and the sheer scale of Eternia. It gives audiences the kind of big-screen He-Man adventure many fans have wanted to see for years.
The movie leans into the spirit of the animated series while still giving the story enough weight to work as a modern fantasy blockbuster. It feels fresh, but it also remembers where it came from.
The Cast Brings These Icons to Life
The cast deserves a huge amount of credit for making these legendary characters feel alive again.
Nicholas Galitzine brings heart, humour and strength to Prince Adam, giving the character a journey that feels emotional as well as heroic.
Jared Leto delivers a scene-stealing take on Skeletor, bringing menace, charisma and theatrical villainy to one of the most iconic bad guys in fantasy.
Idris Elba brings real presence and weight to the world of Eternia, while Camila Mendes, Alison Brie and Morena Baccarin help round out a cast that clearly understands the tone of the franchise.
Everyone feels like they belong in this world, and that is one of the reasons the film works so well.
Why This Screening Felt So Special
Taking that He-Man toy with us turned the night into something more than a movie screening.
It became a reminder of why these franchises matter. They are not just characters on a screen. They are memories. They are childhood adventures. They are toys carried around the house, cartoons watched on repeat and stories that somehow stay with you for decades.
Watching Masters of the Universe with that same figure by our side felt like closing one chapter and opening another.
And honestly, the movie delivered.
Masters of the Universe Delivers From Start to Finish
Without diving into spoilers, Masters of the Universe gives fans so much to enjoy.
The action is big, the visuals are stunning, the humour lands, the emotional beats work, and Eternia finally feels like the epic fantasy world we always imagined it could be.
From the casting to the special effects, from the story to the world-building, this is a film made with care. It respects longtime fans while still feeling accessible to a new generation.
For us, this was exactly the kind of big-screen return He-Man deserved.
By the Power of Grayskull, We Loved It
Comic Movie DB will have more coverage of Masters of the Universe coming soon, including a deeper spoiler discussion once audiences have had the chance to see the film for themselves.
For now, all we can say is this: as lifelong fans, we walked in hoping the movie would capture the magic of He-Man and Eternia.
We walked out smiling.
A huge thank you once again to Sony Pictures UK for inviting us down.
By the Power of Grayskull, this was a cinema trip we will not forget.
