Prey Storyline

Prey (2022) is a science fiction action film set within the long-running Predator franchise. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the movie serves as a prequel to the earlier films and tells the story of one of the Predator’s earliest encounters with humanity.

Set in the early 1700s on the Great Plains of North America, the film follows Naru, a skilled young Comanche warrior determined to prove herself as a hunter. While her tribe focuses on survival and traditional hunts, Naru begins to sense that a far more dangerous predator has arrived in their lands.

As animals and hunters begin to disappear, Naru discovers that the threat is an advanced alien hunter armed with powerful weapons and technology. The creature is part of the Yautja species, known for traveling across the galaxy to hunt the most dangerous prey.

Using her intelligence, resourcefulness and knowledge of the land, Naru must face the alien hunter in a battle for survival while protecting her tribe from a threat unlike anything they have encountered before.

Prey brings the Predator franchise back to its roots by focusing on tension, survival and clever storytelling rather than overwhelming spectacle. By setting the film in the early 18th century, the story offers a fresh perspective on the iconic alien hunter.

Amber Midthunder delivers an impressive performance as Naru, portraying a determined and intelligent warrior who refuses to be underestimated. Her character-driven journey is one of the film’s strongest elements.

Director Dan Trachtenberg keeps the action grounded while gradually revealing the Predator’s presence, creating suspense that echoes the tone of the original 1987 film.

The film’s cinematography and setting add to its atmosphere, with the wilderness becoming both a battleground and a survival challenge. By combining strong character development with intense action sequences, Prey successfully reinvigorates the franchise.
