Shazam! Fury of the Gods Storyline

Following the events of the first film, teenage hero Billy Batson (Asher Angel) continues his double life as the adult superhero Shazam (Zachary Levi), granted powers by ancient gods. Alongside his foster siblings — now all superheroes in their own right — Billy struggles with leadership, responsibility, and finding his place in the world as he approaches adulthood.

Their world is turned upside down when the Daughters of Atlas — Hespera (Helen Mirren), Kalypso (Lucy Liu), and Anthea (Rachel Zegler) — arrive on Earth to reclaim their stolen powers. The magical barrier between realms weakens, unleashing mythical beasts and a destructive force that threatens to tear the world apart.

As the Shazamily faces gods, dragons, and inner doubts, Billy must learn what it truly means to be a hero and protector — not just of power, but of family.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods Review - 7/10 Rating

We rated Shazam! Fury of the Gods a 7/10 — a fun, visually colorful sequel that stays true to the tone and heart of the original. Zachary Levi once again brings energetic charm to the role, while the family dynamic remains the emotional backbone of the story.

The addition of mythological elements and a more serious threat raises the stakes, and the Daughters of Atlas make for visually striking — if somewhat underdeveloped — villains. The humor occasionally leans into silliness, but it’s balanced by strong emotional beats, especially in Billy’s arc around fear, identity, and self-worth.

While it doesn’t reinvent the superhero genre, Fury of the Gods delivers exactly what fans expect — action, laughs, and a whole lot of heart.
