In The Marvels, the destinies of three heroes become cosmically entangled. Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel), Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), and Monica Rambeau find themselves swapping places across space whenever they use their powers — a mysterious phenomenon tied to a cosmic anomaly and an unstable jump point.
As the universe faces a growing threat from Dar-Benn, a Kree revolutionary seeking revenge and power, the trio must learn to work together — despite their differences in experience, temperament, and backgrounds. From alien planets to S.A.B.E.R. space stations, the heroes unravel a larger conspiracy while growing into a team capable of facing cosmic destruction.
At its core, The Marvels explores identity, legacy, and the power of collaboration — blending cosmic adventure with grounded emotional moments.
We gave The Marvels a 6/10 — it’s a visually ambitious sequel that shines brightest when focusing on the dynamic between its three leads. Iman Vellani steals the show as Kamala Khan, bringing humor and heart, while Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris hold down the more serious emotional threads.
The plot, while imaginative, sometimes feels rushed and underdeveloped, especially in its villain and stakes. However, the film’s breezy tone, vibrant visuals, and unique power-swapping gimmick offer a refreshing change of pace from typical Marvel fare.
It’s not without flaws, but The Marvels delivers fun character moments and sets up intriguing threads for the future of the MCU’s cosmic arc.
