X-Men Origins: Wolverine Storyline

Before the X-Men. Before adamantium claws. Before Logan knew who he truly was… there was X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This 2009 action-packed prequel dives into the turbulent history of one of Marvel’s most iconic heroes, revealing the pain, betrayal, and choices that forged him into the Wolverine we know and love.

The story follows James Logan (Hugh Jackman) and his brother Victor Creed (Liev Schreiber) as they live through decades of war — until their bond is shattered by a dark government experiment known as Weapon X. After enduring the agonizing process of bonding unbreakable adamantium to his skeleton, Logan goes rogue to uncover the truth behind the shadowy operation led by William Stryker.

Along the way, Logan encounters fan-favourite mutants like Gambit, Deadpool, Blob, and Silver Fox — all wrapped into a high-stakes hunt for answers and revenge.

With epic fights, emotional beats, and a look into Logan’s brutal past, X-Men Origins: Wolverine delivers raw mutant storytelling with claws out.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Review - 8/10 Rating

We loved this film — and while it may not be flawless, X-Men Origins: Wolverine delivers what it promises: intense action, rich backstory, and a deeper look at the man behind the claws. It’s gritty, emotional, and unrelenting in its pace.

Hugh Jackman once again proves why he is Wolverine — bringing depth, pain, and fury to the role like no one else can. His dynamic with Liev Schreiber’s ferocious Sabretooth is one of the film’s best elements, turning their brotherly rivalry into a compelling, tragic thread that runs throughout.

The film gives us long-awaited live-action debuts of characters like Gambit, Deadpool (in early form), and Blob, and while it takes some creative liberties, it leans into the comic book fun with high energy and style. The Weapon X sequence, in particular, is brutal and unforgettable.

The visuals, fight choreography, and emotional moments elevate this origin story beyond a typical prequel. It’s a solid entry in the X-Men franchise, and one that deserves more appreciation than it often gets.
