Peacemaker (John Cena):
Cena is at his absolute best here — still delivering the crude, over-the-top humour we expect, but also giving us real vulnerability. Through flashbacks and painful conversations, we learn about his toxic upbringing, his fractured sense of morality, and his guilt over the things he’s done “for peace.”
Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks):
The emotional core of the team, Adebayo brings warmth, conscience, and a brilliant outsider’s perspective to the group. Her chemistry with Cena is one of the show’s highlights.
Vigilante (Freddie Stroma):
One of the show’s breakout characters. Imagine if Deadpool and Dwight Schrute had a love child — unhinged, loyal, and disturbingly cheerful while murdering people.
Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and Economos (Steve Agee):
They bring balance and dry humour to the team, with Harcourt evolving into more than just the “badass handler” trope, and Economos offering some of the show’s most unexpectedly emotional moments (yes, the beard scene hits hard).
Auggie Smith / White Dragon (Robert Patrick):
Peacemaker’s openly racist, supervillain father is chilling, and represents the abusive legacy Chris is trying to escape. The show doesn’t shy away from hard topics here — it faces them head-on.
Set after the events of The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker picks up with Christopher Smith (John Cena) recovering from his near-death experience and being pulled into another black ops mission by A.R.G.U.S. The new operation? To stop a mysterious threat known as “Project Butterfly” — alien parasites hiding in human bodies.
While that premise is wild enough on its own, the true strength of the show is how it balances that bizarre sci-fi narrative with sharp character development and emotional weight. This isn’t just about killing in the name of peace anymore — it’s about why Peacemaker became who he is, and whether he can ever change.

When James Gunn promised that Peacemaker would expand on the chaotic, violent anti-hero from The Suicide Squad, we expected outrageous action, absurd comedy, and a lot of bullets. What we didn’t expect? An emotional, character-driven series that somehow delivers all of that and real heart.
We’re giving Season One a solid 8/10 — it’s loud, weird, self-aware, and somehow manages to sneak in a surprising amount of depth.
