How do you feel about Justice League?
Justice League (2017) follows the aftermath of Superman’s death in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). As a new threat emerges in the form of Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds), an alien conqueror seeking to unite three powerful Mother Boxes to conquer Earth, Batman (Ben Affleck) realizes that the world needs a team of heroes to stop him. Bruce Wayne teams up with Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), in the hopes of forming a united front to protect the planet.
The team faces their own struggles in uniting, with each hero battling personal demons and learning to trust one another. As Steppenwolf’s army of Parademons ravages the planet in search of the Mother Boxes, the Justice League must overcome their differences and work together to stop the impending apocalypse. Along the way, the team discovers that the resurrection of Superman, who has the power to turn the tide in their favor, is the key to their success.
The film combines epic battles with moments of humor and heart, ultimately highlighting the importance of teamwork and heroism in the face of overwhelming odds.
We have rated this 6 out of 10. Justice League is an ambitious, action-packed superhero film that brings together iconic DC Comics characters in a shared universe. Directed by Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon (who took over post-production), the film offers thrilling action sequences, but suffers from a disjointed narrative and inconsistent tone.
The strength of Justice League lies in its cast, particularly Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, whose performances inject charisma and energy into their respective roles. Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Batman also provides a more grounded, weary version of the character. The addition of Ezra Miller’s The Flash and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg offers fresh dynamics, although their characters could have been better fleshed out.
The film’s biggest drawback is its uneven tone, as it struggles to find a balance between darker, serious moments and lighter, more humorous exchanges. This tonal inconsistency is most evident in the rushed and uneven post-production process. While the action scenes are impressive, especially the climactic battle against Steppenwolf, the film lacks the depth of character development seen in other superhero ensemble films, like The Avengers.
Despite its flaws, Justice League still delivers a satisfying, if imperfect, superhero team-up, offering fans a glimpse of what could have been a stronger DC cinematic universe. 8/10.
