Review: Captain America: Brave New World (7/10)
Captain America: Brave New World is an exciting new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) back into action as Captain America. The film delivers solid action sequences, engaging character moments, and an intriguing setup for future MCU projects.
One of the highlights is seeing Sam fully embrace his role as Cap, balancing the weight of responsibility while staying true to his values. His dynamic with Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), who officially steps into the role of Falcon, is a great addition, bringing fresh energy and showcasing their teamwork. The action sequences are well-paced, and Torres’ aerial combat adds a new layer to the film’s fight choreography.
A standout emotional moment comes when Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) appears to comfort Sam. Their friendship, built over the years, is a touching reminder of the legacy they both share. Bucky’s presence, while brief, adds emotional depth and reminds audiences of the deep connections that still exist in the post-Endgame world.
The plot, while engaging, follows a familiar Marvel formula—political intrigue, global threats, and a race against time. While it doesn’t break new ground, it keeps the audience invested. The film also does an excellent job paving the way for upcoming MCU entries, particularly Avengers: Doomsday, by introducing key elements that will undoubtedly play a larger role in the franchise’s future.
Overall, Captain America: Brave New World is an enjoyable and easy-to-watch film that delivers what fans expect—strong action, emotional character moments, and hints of what’s to come. While it may not reach the heights of its predecessors, it’s a solid installment that reinforces Sam Wilson’s place as the MCU’s new Captain America.
