Overview

Wonder Woman 1984 Storyline

Wonder Woman 1984 finds Diana living quietly among humanity in the flashy excess of the 1980s when a mysterious artefact called the Dreamstone grants wishes with dangerous consequences. As Maxwell Lord and Cheetah rise as threats, Diana must choose between personal happiness and saving the world. Based on the DC Comics hero, the sequel shifts into brighter fantasy and emotional sacrifice. Wonder Woman 1984 is a DC Comics screen adaptation from 2020, sitting in the wider Comic Movie DB archive as one of the movie entries that helps connect page-to-screen storytelling beyond the obvious cape-and-cowl crowd. The page is especially useful for readers tracking the people involved, with Chris Pine, Gal Gadot, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal among the main names connected to the project. Its action|adventure|comedy|fantasy|romance angle gives the page a clear hook for fans comparing it against other comic-inspired releases, cult favourites and franchise instalments. We have rated this 6 out of 10, which makes it a worthwhile entry to revisit when comparing how well comic properties translate across different studios, eras and audience expectations. For SEO and fan discovery, it belongs here because it adds context to the bigger comic movie timeline: not every adaptation has to be perfect, but each one says something about the genre, the audience it was chasing and the kind of stories studios believed could work on screen.

Wonder Woman 1984 Review 6/10

6

We have rated this 6 out of 10. Wonder Woman 1984 is far more divisive than the first film, but it deserves some credit for trying something different. It leans into sincerity and comic-book fantasy rather than darker realism, which some loved and others absolutely did not. Pedro Pascal steals the film with pure chaotic energy, while Kristen Wiig brings surprising emotion to Barbara Minerva. Messy? Definitely. But at least it swings for something bigger than safe superhero formula.
